Experience Destination Weddings with Matt Mead Photography

Alexa, play me some Lenny Kravitz cause we about to “Fly Away!”

The Matt Mead Photography Experience

At Matt Mead Photography, we specialize in capturing weddings with a mix of journalistic storytelling and editorial portraiture. We adore black-and-white images and rich, true-to-life colors, focused on the emotions of the day and the people you have there sharing them with you. When you look at your wedding photos, we want you to feel exactly as you felt when you shared your vows.

Because your Day 1 together should be about more than just a party; it’s an anchor for you to hold on to when life’s storms blow through.

And these photos are more than just a documentary of your special day.

They are there for you to look back on and remember…

I get to do this life with my very best friend.

We want to hear your love story!

What people are saying

Three Step Process

  1. We Plan—In a pre-wedding planning session, we create your photography schedule around the moments that will best tell your love story.
  2. We Party – You focus on each other and have the best day ever; I will be there, capturing every toast, hug, tear, and laughter in my photojournalistic style.
  3. We Relive the Fun—Your photo session reveal and album planning session happen about four to six weeks after your wedding. We will crack open a bottle of wine and relive the entire day together!

How We Do It

  • We start with a questionnaire for you to complete before our planning consultation. You’ll share the most important moments to you, and I will help craft a timeline to ensure all of them are beautifully captured.
  • Travel plans for your destination wedding will be made together—Teri and I prefer to arrive a day or two early to find the best photo spots and allow for any changes in travel plans that can creep up at the last minute!
  • You relax and enjoy your day while I capture every last detail!

Frequently Asked Questions

(And Some you might not have thought about)

What is a destination wedding?

It’s a wedding where you throw the rules out the window and do the damn thing the way you want, where you want. Usually, this means choosing a location that means something to the two of you, bringing along your friends and family (or not), and saying “I do” in an epic location.

How does a destination wedding differ from a traditional wedding?

Typically, destination weddings are a little more intimate since they require your guests to travel. Destination weddings are usually known for their beautiful locations (think Maui, Cabo, or an Alaskan tundra), sense of adventure, and epic views, but really, they can be anywhere you choose.

Do these differences affect how you photograph a wedding?

Nope! The process is the same, only the venue changes!

How does travel work? Is that part of the package or added on to the final cost?

Our transportation cost (getting from here to there) is included in the package. However, we ask that you set aside accommodations for us for a minimum of three nights (the day before, the day of, and the day after your event).

How long until I see my photos?

Turn around times can vary depending on the time of year, but we aim to have your photos to you within 6 to 8 weeks after your wedding.

Should I have a destination wedding?

Hell yes! Perks include adventure, gorgeous views, built-in honeymoon location for the same travel costs, smaller guest list, and often, there are savings on traditional wedding expenses that aren’t needed when traveling to a destination location!)
